#ThankYouMiami for New Food Finds - Antica Mare

Did you know on iPhone you can give other iPhone users access to your location? Well, you can and during a recent road trip to Key Largo we gave our best friend Morgan indefinite access to our location so she could find us in the mass of cars stuck on the Dolphin. Since that weekend, she's been tracking us as we travel from home, to work, to the gym, and back home. Sometimes she's radio silent re: our location. Other times she reminds us she's watching by texting things like "Why are you at Panther Coffee again?" or sending us a panicked "What are you doing in Little Haiti?! Are you okay?", during which times we're held accountable for explaining to her that we're caffeine addicts or on our way to check out a new Italian restaurant, respectively.

#ThankYouMiami for #YelpsBigBite in #LittleHaiti

Last night Yelp Miami took over the Little Haiti Cultural Center for a culinary showdown of epic proportions: Yelp's Big Bite. The premise of the event is simple genius. Yelp convenes Miami's top culinary professionals to showcase their best food and invites Yelp users to sample and vote for the "Best Bite" of the competition. That translated into the #ThankYouMiami team, including our new intern Celeste (welcome, Celeste!) eating our way through over 15 different dishes and desserts in the course of three hours. As we proceed to recount the deliciousness we consumed, remember we just came off of illness-induced starvation and that these are some of the first "normal" (a/k/a non-bland) foods we've eaten in two weeks.

#ThankYouMiami for Amazing Locals - Haitian Creatives

Miami is amazing because our locals are amazing. This month, in honor of Haitian Heritage Month, Société Perrier gave a nod to some of these amazing locals. Check out the six Miami-based creatives of Haitian descent they are saluting this month by clicking on the images below. You will recognize their work from our museums, restaurants, and magazines. Way to go, Miami!

A huge thanks to Caroline from I Heart Miami 305 for the intel she provided on Miami's Haitian community. You are my favorite Miami Haitian!

Which of these Haitian creatives' work do you recognize? Who are your favorite Miami-based Haitian influencers? How are you celebrating Haitian Heritage Month? What other amazing locals would you like to salute? Leave a comment below or send me a tweet @ThankYouMiami!
