#ThankYouMiami Indulges in Coral Gables Restaurant Week

On Saturday afternoon, after a two-hour Vixen Workout Master Class, I was starving so I called up Jamison and begged him to grab lunch with me. He lives and works in Coral Gables so we agreed to meet at his office near Miracle Mile and walk somewhere to eat. I had big hopes for the places he would recommend—you may recall Jamison is an expert on lunching like a local in Coral Gables—and he did not disappoint.  In fact, going to Coral Gables turned out to be a genius move because they are smack dab in the middle of Coral Gables Restaurant Week. The Miami Spice-like promotion means 20% off prix-fixe menus across our favorite Coral Gables restaurants until this Sunday, June 25.

Jamison and I wandered onto Giralda Avenue on our quest for food because we were intrigued by its on-going facelift. We're happy to report it is starting to look really nice. Plus, it turns out Giralda Avenue plays host to live music on Saturdays, giving us the opportunity to enjoy a little Spanish guitar while we strolled making our mealtime selection. We ended up at The Local Craft Food and Drink to satisfy my nostalgia. (I used to eat there all the time when I worked in the Gables.)

The Coral Gables Restaurant Week lunch menu at The Local is SO good. Jamison and I had a really hard time picking one appetizer and one entrée because all three options sounded like exactly what we needed. In the end, I picked the burrata and the cheeseburger, both of which were major wins. I asked Jamison to pick another appetizer and entrée to share so we could each get a little of everything. He chose to be selfish and ordered only for him, letting me know he would be stealing half of my meal anyway. His choices were the grilled lettuce—the one bite I managed to steal was surprisingly delicious—and the fried chicken. Dessert was a perfectly sweet root beer float.

If you're thinking about going to Coral Gables, this week is the time to do it. I mean, take a look at the photos of our meal. Where else can you get ALL of that deliciousness for just $25? Here's the full list of participating restaurants.
