Ritz-Carlton has an impeccable reputation because they make great choices. At Ritz-Carlton Vail, great choices include ski valet and a daily s'mores/hot cocoa happy hour. At Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale, they include a blissful spa and rum-centric bar, eatery and market ideal for quality mother-daughter time. And, at Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, they include stunning views of Baker's Haulover Inlet and Artisan Beach House, a restaurant by Chef Paula DaSilva with an internationally-inspired menu of the season's freshest local offerings.
We popped into Artisan Beach House earlier this month to see what the buzz is all about. Like the rest of Miami, we were blown away by Chef DaSilva's talent at 3030 Ocean and 1500 Degrees at the Eden Roc. The local wahoo ceviche, bacalao (salted fish) croquettes, crispy pork belly, and the octopus starter—the absolute stand-out dish of the evening—that we enjoyed during our visit to her new venture continued our love affair with her culinary vision. Plus, we were introduced to and grew to love Chef Tony Coddington, the Chef de Cuisine with whom she teamed up to deliver on the Artisan Beach House menu.
"The menu is a collaboration between Tony and me, inspired by our travels and the seasons, with good solid technique at its core," declares Chef DaSilva. Turns out she too makes great choices. After all, Chef Coddington, among other displays of genius, is responsible for the menu's ample offering of house-cured charcuterie (and you know how we feel about charcuterie!).
While we highly recommend stopping by for dinner, Artisan Beach House is also open for breakfast and lunch. Starting this Sunday, April 30, they are doing everyone in Miami a service by debuting Sunday brunch. We're talking baked farm eggs with truffle oil and a side of charred bread, prime rib benedict with caramelized onions and horseradish cream, focaccia fried egg melts with mortadella salami, soppressata and manchego, and nutella french toast with caramelized bananas. (They also have a berry bowl and cold pressed juices for those of us watching our figure for summer.)
Can't you just see yourself sitting on Artisan Beach House's outdoor terrace, savoring a mimosa (or a bloody mary, or a michelada) overlooking the ocean? We can't imagine a better way to while away the weekend. And, we're all about making great choices...
