We woke up this morning still in the three-day forecast cone of Hurricane Matthew, meaning its time to kick on hurricane preparedness mode into high gear if you're running on Miami time. Hurricanes are par for the course in South Florida, but we haven't had one in 10 years and the meteorological prognosis on this one is scary. We're desperately praying for the Caribbean islands that are expecting a pounding today and tomorrow, while silently panicking about what it means for us shortly thereafter. It's about to get serious, folks, and, whether you've lived here forever or are new to town (Bienvenido a Miami!) it doesn't hurt to be properly prepared. Here are some tips on how to prepare for a hurricane.
Daunting news aside, we've got some incredibly exciting news to share! Our first-ever book—a 128-page pocket guide about everything we love in Miami called The HUNT Guides Miami—is finally in print! We received our first copy from our publisher last night and we're amping hardcore to share it with you. We're still working out the details of where it will be sold and will definitely keep you posted. In the interim, here's a video of Margarita uncovering the book for the first time and reading you the introduction. Follow our Facebook page so you don't miss future Facebook Live updates. She will be sharing behind the scenes stories on the making of the book, as well as other secret tidbits beyond the first-person anecdotes in the pages every week!
Last but not least, we're super amped to share that we've been nominated for Best Local Blogger in The Blogger Union's 2016 Awards. We want to thank you for your support the past few years and encourage you to vote for us many times as you can if you love what we do. Don't forget to spread the word too—with your help we can win this! Stay safe, Miami.
