One day Cecconi's Miami said "#ThursdayIsTheNewFriday" and we were like: "That's a concept we can get behind!" In fact, practically all of Miami supports the idea that Friday happy hour doesn't have a monopoly on week night fun. So there we were sitting at their bar after work elbow-deep in a $7 negroni, loving life and devising a plan to keep this amazing new happy hour a secret. Alas, a heavy-handed pour of gin clouded our better judgement and here we are about to share with you the secrets of our latest happy hour find.
The idea is beautiful in its simplicity. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Cecconi's offers food and drinks priced between $4 and $7. And, on select Thursdays, the deal is sweetened for Thursday Funday with live jazz, complimentary Estrella Damm, and complimentary truffle arancini served off of Chef Sergio's Aperitivo menu. Read on for more details and for photos from our Thursday Funday evening at Cecconi's bar.
The $4 small plates on the happy hour menu include bar bites as simple as a plate of bresaola, parmigiano, and olives and as complex as baked gnocchi romana with gorgonzola. The $7 dishes are full portions of the restaurant's veal tonnato, rigatoni bolognese, and calamari fritti. Unfortunately, tonight we were observing a liquid diet so we did not have (or photograph) any of the food. We can, however, fully vouch (and prove) that Cecconi's cocktails are on point.
The happy hour drink menu offers a lot of variety. Gin drinkers can follow in our footsteps and opt for the negroni but, if gin is not your poison, other cocktails range from bellinis to soho mules. If you can work your magic on the bar staff, you can also request an alternate cocktail made with the happy hour spirits. For beer drinkers, your go-to special is the $4 Estrella Damm. Oh and wine drinkers, fret not, because there is also a selection of vino. Needless to say, we're prepping to become permanent fixtures at Cecconi's - especially on Thursdays!
