There is a lot of "sameness" in the food world—an overabundance of avocado toast and açaí bowls if you will. And, while we love both açaí bowls and avocado toast (especially on Zak the Baker bread), we appreciate restaurants that bring something unique to Miami's culinary scene. It's the little push we need to expand our palate, to keep us from ordering the same thing from the same place over and over again.
Amour de Miami, a French-owned restaurant in Brickell, is something different. While Chef Jean-Christophe Marquet's menu contains familiar items such as burgers and pasta, it is peppered with traditional French dishes—a surprising rarity in Miami considering our prominent francophone community—that are worthy of our attention. We stopped by a few weeks ago for dinner and worked our way through smoked salmon blini and homemade foie gras with onion marmalade to start, followed by chicken fricassee as our entrée and hot lava cake and the Amour lemon tart for dessert. Every single dish was melt in your mouth good so much so we can't say we had one favorite. However, our conversations about the night do revolve most frequently around the blini.
If you're looking to break away from the "sameness", or you love traditional French cuisine, Amour de Miami is where you need to eat next. You can find their restaurant, with its charming outdoor café, tucked in the back of the Brickell Avenue plaza (the one with Sushi Siam). You can also order delivery via UberEats, their website and several other local delivery services. But you would be remiss not to experience their staff's hospitality and owner Arnaud Ferlin's inevitable charisma. Plus, we have found that French food is best when consumed straight out of the kitchen.
Next Saturday, December 10 gives you the perfect excuse to pass by. Amour de Miami will be celebrating their one year anniversary brunch with a special menu, free wine tastings, unlimited mimosas, live music and more from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Alternately, you can stop by between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. during the week for French Happy Hour with $6 glasses of wine, $5 beers and $4 glasses of sangria (to accompany to insanely yummy blini, of course).
