#ThankYouMiami for Local Cocktail Culture - National Rum Day

It's hump day in the 305 and nothing goes better with our extra shot of colada than the promise of delicious weekend cocktails. Now we're normally not fans of national (insert every day item here) holidays. On Instagram, we are bombarded about posts of one almost every day and we're kinda over it. But, as South Beach's resident cocktail connoisseurs, we never turn down and excuse to celebrate local cocktail culture and/or rum. Alas, today we are pre-gaming National Rum Day, also known as Saturday. Here are four recipes inspired by South Florida you need to try this weekend:

1. Botran Skinny Colada

You've heard us talk about Botran Reserva rum in our feature about the perfect mojito. This time, in line with all our bikini body talk this week, Botran brings us another cocktail recipe idea that won't ruin the last few weeks of our beach bods. Yes, please!

Ingredients:
1/2 oz. agave nectar
2 pineapple slices
2 oz. coconut water
1/2 oz. fresh lime juice

Instructions:
Muddle the pineapple slices with the agave nectar, lime juice, and coconut water. Add the Botran Reserva. Shake and pour into a Collins glass with ice.

2. Libertine Miami's The Spicy Bull

New kid on the Downtown Miami block, Libertine Miami, knows cocktails. Remember the super cool flaming cocktails from our review of their soft opening? So, on Saturday, if you're looking for a place to toast rum with, well, rum, you know where you need to stop by. They are open from 9 a.m. to literally whenever AND The Spicy Bull is only $5 until August 23 so you have absolutely no excuse.

Ingredients:
Mount Gay Black Barrel
Fresh lime juice
Ruby red grapefruit juice
Yellow Red Bull topper
Jalapeño garnish

Instructions:
Get in Uber. Enter 40 NE 11 Street, Miami as destination. Look for secret entrance next to a blue awning. Order The Spicy Bull at bar.

3. Nikki Beach Mojito Bowl

On South Beach, Nikki Beach Miami is using National Rum Day to give back to a cause about which we're very passionate, Style Saves. We talked a lot about Style Saves during Miami Swim Week 2015 and we're excited to see they have not lost momentum toward their fundraising goal. In fact, we can help them get much closer - $50 to be exact - for every mojito bowl we order during Sunday Brunch. Who's with us?

Ingredients:
1/2 bottle of white rum
1/2 bottle of lemon rum
Fresh lime juice
Cane sugar
Mint
Lemon-lime soda
Fresh sugarcane garnish

Instructions:
Gather large group of friends. Get in one or more Uber XL cars. Enter 1 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach as destination. Order as many mojito bowls as humanly safe. Take Advil and crash on South Beach friend's couch. Wake up feeling great about previous day's philanthropic contribution.

4. Tanzy's Illegalito

If you're looking for a change of scenery, National Rum Day is the perfect excuse to venture northbound to Boca where Tanzy Restaurant in Mizner Park will be offering a mojito trilogy, including the Illegalito. All three are made with fresh ingredients, using their signature sweet basil-mint-coriander blend called "Pestato Italiano". Plus, Tanzy's and Mizner Park neighbor iPic Theaters are both offering National Sandwich Month specials during the month of August. We're thinking Tanzy mojitos followed by a crispy fried chicken sandwich and a movie at iPic?

Ingredients
Pestato Italiano
Boca Loca
Passion fruit
Coconut
Pineapple

Instructions:
Pick killer one-hour playlist. Drive to Mizner Park and park at one of four free parking garages on north and south ends. Order Tanzy mojitos. Sober up at iPic with a summer blockbuster and a crispy friend chicken sandwich (which you can bring into the theater, BTW).
