Miami is known for being good at many things, including making bomb mojitos. Between our Cuban connection and our access to prime Latin American and Caribbean rums, the mojito odds are ever in our favor. That said, learning how to make them properly is an art so when Botran Rum invited us to a mojito making class at Larios On The Beach, we jumped at the invitation. After all, knowing how to make a mojito is pretty much a right of passage in Miami and we couldn't pass up an opportunity to clock a rare local experience on the world renown Ocean Drive.
The location, the serrano ham croqueticas - every detail contributed toward a "so Miami" atmosphere that was ideal for mojito-making inspiration. Botran Rum really delivered on the 305 vibes and you can bet we channeled them as we expertly crafted classic and watermelon mojitos. For the record, they turned out delicious. And, while we value our newfound ability to make the perfect mojito (okay, okay, it was probably the Botran Reserva rum we used), our biggest take-away of the evening was discovering Larios On The Beach's new weekday happy hour. Who knew that only a few blocks from home, on Ocean Drive of all places, you can get $5 bites and $6 cocktails from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.? It was an incredibly pleasant surprise - just like our ability to transform rum, simple syrup, lime juice, mint, and club soda into a respectable drink!
What is your go-to cocktail? How do you make your mojito? Do you add anything special to it or do prefer a traditional mojito? Have you been to Lario's On The Beach? What did you think? Are you excited about their summer happy hour? What are some other Miami happy hours you are excited about? Leave a comment below or send us a tweet @ThankYouMiami!
